About me

My name is Josh and I live in Minneapolis.

A few things about me:

Politically I am quite liberal with a firm belief in socialized society.  I also belief heavily in regulations.   The title of this blog is based on the need to End the Echo of the right wing echo chamber.  In the US today where the corporate media is often a mouthpiece for the conservative think tanks, and their talking points just get bounced around like a really painful echo, well I want to end it.

I am atheist.  Or sometimes I describe myself as a devout heathen.  I was baptized Catholic, but we stopped going to church when I was 3.  I have many religious friends, including some pastors.  My greatest source of religious education is The Simpsons.  I got a perfect score on the Ned Flanders quiz on Beliefnet.

I live in Minneapolis, so there will be posts about local issues.  A couple of things I will do locally.

Track the commentary in the Star and Tribune (Strib) newspaper.  Everything thinks it is liberal, but I disagree.  Way too much Charles Krauthammer, George Will, David Brooks, Debra Saunders, and not enough Bob Herbert, Paul Krugman, and E.J. Dionne.  So I am going to count the national columnists and rate other columns.   This will probably summarized weekly and monthly.

Katherine Kersten watch, those of you in the Twin Cities, and probably greater Minnesota know of this Strib columnist.   Well for the rest of you, she is a very special person that is very right wing.  She seems to be able to cry victim at the drop of the hat, but just as quickly turns around to cry political correctness when she thinks someone else is claiming to be a victim.

I am also a transit, urban planning geek wannabe.  So I am going to post on things about getting around in the Twin Cities.

I also like the arts, particularly the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, Schubert Club, and Theatre de la Jeune Lune.  So I will blog about deals, performances, etc…  However, I do this as a fan of these organizations.  They do not pay me.  And if you don’t like my politics, please do not think that these organizations are some liberal bastion closed to you.  I have conservative friends that go to all of these  organizations shows.

I also really like movies and have been the the Toronto International Film Festival twice.  I should mention that for movies and the arts organizations above, I tend to be very positive about performances and movies.  If you are looking for someone who is very critical, getting into the details, or deconstructing the piece, I won’t be able to provide that for you.

I won’t be back after reading this. I’m a conservative, you’re a liberal. My team won 12 championships, your team won ZERO championships. My guy will be going to the White House and taking a woman with him, your guy will return to his once muslim ways and hate Americans for not letting him have a chance to tax us to death.
